The Return of British Sea Power
Machineries of Joy (2013)
Good news! British Sea Power have a brand new album coming our way on 1st April (no joke). Quite possibly my favourite of all contemporary British bands, ever innovative and thoroughly idiosyncratic, you cannot help but love them. 'Machineries of Joy' is the title track from the new one. Meanwhile, below is the video for their beautiful pop classic, 'Please Stand Up', taken from their second album, Open Season (2005). Funnily enough, I've had Open Season stuck in the car stereo for days on end of late and I never tire of it. How could I? The band are touring in April.

Ah, my band, my band. I've literally no idea how many times I've seen them. At their peak, they were peerless. I have some hopes for the new album, having heard a few bits - I feared hubris had rather set in with 'Valhalla Dancehall'. We'll see...
I liked their first album but lost track after that..the new track is tops will check the album out and of course I believe it is time for Open Season
Not a band I've ever delved into, but perhaps I was just waiting for the right tune to hit me between the eyes which is exactly what the fantastic 'Machineries of Joy' did the first time I heard it on 6music a couple of weeks ago. An absolute corker. Time for me to explore further.
Mellow sound and we can understand the word. Happy combination. Hoping all is well across the pond.
enjoyed the catch up, and the music. 'n I know it's been awhile, hope you haven't forgotten li'l ole me. Not precisely 'with it' as much as not 'without it' type of thing. ;-) xPenx
